Zander Murray can be an inspiration – his story needs to be told – The Times

Those of us who have yet to watch Zander Murray play football can at least say this about him: he sure talks a good game. When the Gala Fairydean Rovers striker last week put himself forward as the first openly gay male player in Scottish football it immediately gave him a profile and a platform he had never previously known or sought as a 30-year-old ploughing away in the Lowland League. Buoyed by the relief and elation of having a weight lifted off his shoulders, and the overwhelmingly positive reaction washing over him, he has come across brilliantly.

On Radio Scotland yesterday he spoke eloquently about the psychological wrestling he put himself through for years before realising he had to make an honest man of
