World Surf League expands Box to Box partnership to include Apple TV+ docuseries – SportsPro – SportsPro Media

The World Surf League (WSL) has expanded its partnership with Box to Box Films, the production company behind Netflix Formula One docuseries Drive to Survive.

Through the new agreement, Box to Box Films will have exclusive rights to produce documentary projects for the WSL. The production house previously worked with the WSL to produce the ‘Make Or Break’ Apple TV+ series that was released in April and will now return for a second season.

“Box to Box Films is undoubtedly the hottest production company in sports and their ability to tell unique stories is unmatched,” said Erik Logan, chief executive of the WSL.

“This partnership is a full-league deal and gives the team there – headed up by Oscar-winning James-Gay Rees and Emmy winner Paul Martin – the unprecedented opportunity to mine the archives of the entire sport.

“This type of access gives them a real opportunity to delve deep into the league’s rich history and use their intimate storytelling approach to take viewers inside the world, lives, and legends of the best surfers on the planet.”

The WSL has also announced a three-year extension of its partnership with Corona, which will remain the surfing property’s official beer partner outside of the US and Australia.

The renewal will see Corona partner with WSL Pure, as part of the We Are One Ocean initiatives across the WSL Championship tour.

Corona will remain as the title sponsor for the Open J-Bay as well as the presenting partner for the Surf City El Salvador Pro, which runs from 12th to 20th June.
