Woman punched by stranger who yells anti-gay remark inside Manhattan subway station – Yahoo News
A woman entering a Manhattan subway station was punched in the face by a stranger who yelled an anti-gay remark, police said Sunday.
The 24-year-old victim was waiting outside the turnstile of the Canal St. stop for the N, Q, R and W trains around 8 p.m. Saturday when she encountered the man, who was already screaming when she walked in, according to cops.
The stranger approached her and yelled, “You don’t belong here. You d—-s need to get out of here,” before socking her in the right eye, police said.
He then pulled out a sharp object resembling a hair pick before threatening her and stating, “I’ll stab you,” cops said.
The irate man then left the station, with the victim following close behind in an attempt to film him. When he caught on, he turned around and struck the victim a second time in the face while holding the sharp object in his hand, cops said.
The woman, who suffered a cut to the cheek and bruises to the face, declined medical attention at the scene.
Her attacker has not been caught.
The NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating.
