Wildcats Travel to Cabo for Fall Finale – Kansas State University Athletics – K-StateSports.com

MANHATTAN, Kan.The Kansas State women’s golf team is set to close out its fall season with an exciting trip to San Jose del Cabo, Mexico for the Battle at the Beach, held Friday through Sunday at the par-72, 6,250-yard Club Campestre San Jose.

“Obviously, everyone is really excited about the Battle at the Beach in Cabo,” said head coach Kristi Knight. “This golf course usually gives players an opportunity to break par. The key to success is staying in the present and giving all focus to the current shot.”

Representing the Wildcats in Mexico is Haley Vargas, Remington Isaac, Napua Glossner, Manon Donche-Gay, and Noa Van Beek. This is the season debut for this lineup combination.

Leading the Cats in the No. 1 spot is Vargas, who is coming off a career-best performance in her last appearance at the Dale McNamara Invitational where she tied for third place. The senior is the team stroke average leader so far this season at 73.56 and has had 100 percent of her rounds contribute to the team score.

Glossner and Donche-Gay have joined Vargas in the lineup throughout every event this fall. They have both been steady performers this fall and will be looking to secure their first top-20 finish of the season.

Isaac rejoins the scoring lineup to make the third appearance of her sophomore campaign, while Van Beek, a freshman, has earned a second-straight appearance after tying for 32nd in her Wildcat debut at the Dale McNamara Invitational.

K-State has been no stranger to stiff competition this season and the 17-team field it will face this weekend is no different. Joining the Wildcats is host-school TCU, No. 14 Arkansas, No. 20 Baylor, Charlotte, Clemson, East Tennessee State, Houston, Kansas, No. 17 LSU, No. 7 Mississippi State, Missouri, North Texas, Rutgers, No. 16 Vanderbilt and Wisconsin.

Knight is encouraging her team to play free as they bring their fall season to a conclusion in Cabo.

“We need to play with a sense of gratitude and fun versus pressing to make things happen,” said Knight.

The three-day, 54-hole tournament will include one round each day with play beginning via a shotgun start at 7:00 a.m. (CT) on Friday and Saturday, and 6:00 a.m. (CT) on Sunday.
