The six nominees for the Week of April 5-10 are:

Matthew Ezzell, Abilene High, Baseball

Ezzell was the main source of offense for the Eagles in two games against Odessa High. In Friday’s 10-2 loss, he had a hit and the team’s only RBI while going 2 for 3 with a double, a walk, two RBIs and a run in Saturday’s 7-6 victory. He finished the week with three hits and three RBIs in two games.

Jadyn Fernandez, Wylie, Softball

Fernandez had a game to remember as the Lady Bulldogs beat in-town rival Cooper on Tuesday. She drove in four of the team’s six runs in the 6-4 win on four hits, including the game-winning, walk-off two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning. She added two more hits, including a triple, and another run scored in Friday’s loss to district co-leader Lubbock Monterey to finish the week 6 for 8 with a triple, home run, four RBIs and two runs scored.

Brooks Gay, Wylie, Baseball

Gay turned in another impressive performance to beat No. 12 Lubbock Monterey 3-2. He went all seven innings to earn the win, allowing two runs on five hits with no walks and seven strikeouts. He threw a first-pitch strike to 20 of the 28 batters he faced and needed 92 pitches to get through the complete game.

Jack Keefer, Cooper, Baseball

Keefer helped the Cougars split against Lubbock Monterey last week. He went 7 for 8 with two doubles, two RBIs and four runs scored with a batting average of .875, an OBP of .875 and a slugging percentage of 1.125. He also earned the save in Friday’s 8-4 win, pitching three innings of one-run ball, giving up three hits and two walks while striking out four.

Angelina Arriaga, Cooper, Softball

Arriaga put together a pair of strong performances for the Lady Cougars. Against Wylie, she hit a three-run home run, although it ended up coming in a 6-4 loss. She added two more RBIs on a pair of hits in the 11-3 win against Lubbock-Cooper.

Braden Baker, Abilene Christian, Baseball
