Veterans Day Parade: What to know about parking restrictions, traffic on Friday – Baltimore Sun
This year’s Veterans Day Parade is happening Friday in Baltimore, rain or shine, and transportation officials are advising motorists to plan ahead.
The parade will begin at noon at the intersection of Charles and Centre streets. Participants will proceed south on Charles Street, east on Lexington Street and continue east toward Gay Street before disbanding onto War Memorial Plaza.

As the parade proceeds through its route, road closures will open up in tandem, the Baltimore City Department of Transportation said in a news release.

Citizens attending the parade are encouraged to arrive early and use public parking facilities in the surrounding areas. All posted parking restrictions will be strictly enforced, and vehicles parked in violation will be ticketed and towed, the department said.
The following streets will be closed Friday to traffic, and parking is prohibited:
- Southside Mount Vernon Place from Cathedral Street to St. Paul Street.
- Both sides of Charles Street from Mount Vernon Place to Fayette Street.
- Centre Street from Park Avenue to St. Paul Street.
- Lexington Street from Charles Street to Frederick Street.
- Holliday Street from Saratoga Street to Lexington Street.
The following parking restrictions will be in place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.:
- Mount Vernon Place from Cathedral Street to St. Paul Street (eastbound travel only).
- Charles Street from Fayette Street to Lexington Street.
- Southside Centre Street from Charles Street to Lovegrove Street.
- Lexington Street from Charles Street to Frederick Street.
- Westside Gay Street from Fayette Street to Lexington Street.
- Fayette Street from Gay Street to Holliday Street.
- Saratoga Street from Gay Street to Holliday Street.
- Eastside Guilford Avenue from Saratoga Street to Fayette Street.
The following detours will be implemented:
- Eastbound Centre Street: Left onto Park Avenue, right turn onto Eager Street, right turn onto St. Paul Street, left turn back onto Centre Street.
- Northbound Charles Street: Left onto Fayette Street, right turn onto Park Avenue, right turn onto Biddle Street, left turn on Charles Street.
- Southbound Holliday Street: Right turn onto Saratoga Street, immediate left onto Guilford Avenue, left turn onto Baltimore Street, left turn onto Gay Street, left to I-83 Northbound or right to continue on Gay Street.
The following detours will also be implemented for the Charm City Circulator’s Purple Route at the same time:
- Northbound Charles Street onto Westbound Fayette Street.
- Right turn onto Northbound Park Avenue.
- Right turn onto Eastbound Biddle Street.
- Left turn onto Northbound Charles Street.
“Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be advised that temporary traffic stops will be implemented during the event for the safety of parade participants,” the release says. “Transportation Enforcement Officers will be working in the area to facilitate the movement of traffic. Commuters should expect delays and are strongly encouraged to use alternate routes.”
