As one congressman joined his republican colleagues voting against a bill that would solidify federal protections for same-sex marriage, his son was preparing to marry a man.
Glenn Thompson, who represents Pennsylvania’s 15th District to the US Congress, later attended his unnamed son’s wedding over the weekend, his staff confirmed to the press on Monday, July 25.
“Congressman and Mrs. Thompson were thrilled to attend and celebrate their son’s marriage on Friday night as he began this new chapter in his life,” the father of three’s spokesperson Maddison Stone said in a statement. “The Thompsons are very happy to welcome their new son-in-law into their family.”
The 15th district includes all of Warren, McKean, Forest, Venango, Elk, Cameron, Clarion, Jefferson, Armstrong, Clearfield, Indiana counties, most of Cambria and Centre counties, and parts of Butler County.
