Update: Looks like South End sports bar may not be closing – Universal Hub

The treend does seem to be more along the lines of “LGBTQ themed” or more blended in general. More places are having drag nights or other LGBTQ style activities and on the other side Jaques has become less of a gay bar and more of a bridal party destination.

There is still Club Cafe and The Alley Bar and both seem pretty secure in where they are. In Dorchester you have the neighborhood gay”ish” bare like Dbar and Blend which clearly cater to the community but it’s not uncommon to see everyday folk too.

The South End just costs too much money to keep a scene that really depends on young people to stay afloat. Older folks (I’m 41 and include myself in that) will go out but less often and won’t drink nearly as much. That young crowd hasn’t settled in a new home yet , and may never , but at the moment Dorchester seems to be the place that people are attracted to.
