The series starred Tian Richards, who was known for his appearances in Being Mary Jane and The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. Tom Swift also stars Ashleigh Murray, April Parker Jones, Marquise Vilson, Christopher B. Duncan and LeVar Burton.

Tom Swift was co-created by Nancy Drew EPs Melinda Hsu Taylor and Noga Landau, as well as Empire writer Cameron Johnson.
