This Meme Is 100% Correct: “Behind Every Gay Person Is a Gayer … – Them
It’s a truth universally acknowledged that behind every gay person is an even gayer, more evil person… at least, that’s what Twitter would have you believe. Over the past few days, a viral “evil gay” meme has taken over social media, a welcome reminder of how much the LGBTQ+ community loves a queer villain.
First, an origin story: On January 1, TikTok star Anania Williams kicked off 2023 by taking to Twitter and boldly proclaiming that “behind every gay person is a gayer, more evil gay person.”

In the intervening days, Williams’ tweet racked up over tens of thousands of likes and quote tweets, as the queer internet joked about their favorite evil gay duos. Unsurprisingly, plenty of morally gray yet beloved queer ships were brought up, from Eve and Villanelle in Killing Eve to Hannibal and Will in Hannibal, and everyone in between.
The pairings weren’t just romantic, either — one popular Quote Tweet included father-son duo Nate and Cal Jacobs from Euphoria, both of whom have notoriously, um… complicated relationships with their sexualities.
