Almost one in three Irish gay and bisexual men are likely to be problem drinkers, a study has found.

They are almost four times more likely to suffer from “alcohol use disorder” than the general population and more than twice as likely than the overall male population.

The EMIS survey, carried out in 2017 and published on Science Direct yesterday, found that 31 per cent of gay and bisexual men in Ireland suffered from the disorder.
