The Gays Are Loving Hasbro’s New, Reimagined Clue Game Characters
Hasbro has released a reimagined version of its classic board game Clue, and the updated characters are causing quite a stir!
The release comes after modernized versions of classic whodunnit stories like the Knives Out films taking on adaptations of Agatha Christie novels, and gay Twitter approves of the rebrand.
The idea behind the characters is still the same, and players can choose to play as Miss Scarlett, Colonel Mustard, Mayor Green, Chef White, Solicitor Peacock, or Professor Plum as you discover their backstories and uncover their secrets.
D&D journalist Christian Hoffer tweeted, “Hasbro’s new version of Clue officially comes out today and I look forward to a generation of kids pointing to the new Chef White as their sexual awakening.”
His statements have been echoed by many, with a direct response to him stating, “Wait, they came out with Clue: Bisexual Panic edition?”
Another said, “‘What’s your sexuality?’ *Drops Clue on the table*.”
The official account for Mr. Monopoly even had some thoughts, saying, “I guess there’s a new hot grandpa in town.”
As the conversation continued and many discussed the heels on Solicitor Peacock, Hoffer said, “I did not receive a review copy of Clue, so I cannot confirm whether ‘Stepping on Me’ is now a potential weapon. Gonna presume so until stated otherwise.”
The intent of the game remains true to the original. According to the product description, six guests arrive at Boddy Black’s mansion, and none know what to expect. A sinister blackmail scheme ends up killing the host, and the race to find the murderer begins.
Some other changes include articles on Boddy Black’s desk revealing ways in which he’s blackmailing each character as well as adding in “Clue cards” to speed up the clue gathering and offering an advantage over other players.
You can purchase the rebranded Clue board game at Amazon and Walmart.
