The Best Ways to Celebrate Halloween in Colorado – Travel Boulder

The temperatures have already dropped and Halloween will be here before you know it: It’s officially spooky season in Colorado.

Make the most of this special time of year by going all-in on Halloween festivities. Below, we’ve rounded up some of the best ways to celebrate Halloween this year.

Catbird & Chill Scary Movie Experience

This October, check into Catbird, a fun new hotel that opened in Denver’s RiNo neighborhood last year. The home-away-from-home hotel is making it easy to get into the spooky season spirit with a Catbird & Chill Scary Movie Experience package that’s perfect for a little Denver staycation. Your room offers a theater-like viewing experience in its own right: Catbird’s giant windows transform into oversized viewing screens and 4K Ultra HD projectors drop from the ceiling! But beyond that, the package includes a scary movie menu, complete with scary movie bingo.

You’ll also get movie theatre-style candy and popcorn; a pumpkin filled with Halloween candy, candy corn and booze; credit for the rooftop bar The Red Barber for two “Blood Bag” cocktails (filled with house-made sangria) and s’mores kits for the rooftop firepits; and two tickets to the 13th Floor Haunted House.

The package is available now through Nov. 5.

Black Lagoon Pop-Up Bar

Spooky cocktails and moody vibes are out in full force at Black Lagoon, an immersive pop-up bar at Yacht Club in Denver.

Surrounded by skulls, coffins, ghastly body parts and other creepy-crawly decor, sip drinks like the Screaming Banshee (Botanist Gin, Giffard L’Abricot, pineapple syrup, greek yogurt), Lilith’s Cup (Mount Gay Black Barrel, Aperol, vermouth, passionfruit syrup, glitter), Closed Casket (Bruichladdich Classic, St. Remy, Giffard L’Abricot, passionfruit syrup, miso falernum) and Hellraiser (Hornitos, Chairman’s Spiced Rum, Cointreau, spiced oat orgeat).

The pop-up bar’s organizers have also put together a playlist to get you pumped up for the experience.

Freaky Deaky Tiki Halloween Extravaganza

Grab and friend and head to Adrift on South Broadway, which is hosting an all-out Halloween bash on Saturday, Oct. 29 from 8 p.m. to midnight. Your ticket includes a spooky cocktail, music by DJ Phurn, a drag show featuring Stella Diver, Allsypce and Gila Moonstar, fire-spinning and fire-breathing performances, tarot card readings and a photo booth. There’s also a food truck and a costume contest.

And even if you can’t make it to the party, Adrift can still help you get into the spirit with its fall seasonal cocktails and other events. The Oh My Gourd! drink features Paddy’s Old Irish Whiskey, Hamilton 151 Demerara Rum, pineapple amaro, Tingala, angostura, orange, lime and pumpkin, while their Autumn Equinox is made with Old Forester Rye, Hamilton Jamaican Pot Still Black Rum, 4-Year Flor de Caña Rum, demerara, walnut liqueur and angostura. They’re playing spooky movies, too, as part of their Red Rum Wednesdays.

Munchkin Masquerade

For little ones, there’s nothing more exciting than donning a costume, putting on some colorful makeup and heading downtown for Boulder’s Munchkin Masquerade. This year’s event is from 3 to 6 p.m. on Halloween (Oct. 31) and all tiny ghosts and goblins, dinosaurs and dragons, fairies and princes, superheroes and animals of every size are invited to come trick-or-treat on Pearl Street.

Columbia Cemetery Tour

This Halloween, head to Boulder’s Columbia Cemetery for a spooky tour—if you dare. Held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 31, this insightful tour—led by Boulder Parks and Rec staffers—shares the triumphs, tragedies and secrets of the people buried here. Wear your costume, too!
