LAKEWOOD, Ohio — Universal Pictures will be in Lakewood tonight, Aug. 24, offering a sneak peek at “Bros,” the first gay romantic comedy from a major studio.
Studio West 117, located at 11801 Detroit Ave., will host BROS-Mobile, a 44-seat mobile theater where people can watch exclusive footage from the upcoming film. The event, also featuring giveaways and more, runs from 6 p.m. to midnight.
The pop-up movie theater is traveling across the country ahead of the film’s release on September 30. Lakewood is one of just 12 stops on the tour.
“Bros” features an entirely LGBTQ+ principal cast led by Billy Eichner (“Billy on the Street”), who also co-wrote the screenplay, and also stars Luke Macfarlane (“Killjoys”), Ts Madison (“The Ts Madison Experience”), Monica Raymund (“Chicago Fire”), Guillermo Díaz (“Scandal”), Guy Branum (“The Other Two”) and Amanda Bearse (“Married …with Children”). Directed by Nicholas Stoller (“Forgetting Sarah Marshall”), the film tells the story of two guys facing the challenges of finding love with the right person.
Open since late 2021 in the former Mack Products and Phantasy Nightclub buildings, Studio West 117 is a collection of inclusive and affirming venues for the LGBTQ+ community and allies. It includes a nightclub, rooftop bar, two restaurants, shops and a fitness center.
