Stephens Talks About His Return To Sandusky, Ohio in Swan Song – LRM Online
The filmmaker Todd Stephens takes us back to Sandusky, Ohio for his new film Swan Song. Inspired by the real “Mister Pat” and the reminder to live life to the fullest.

The Synopsis
SWAN SONG follows retired hairdresser and local bar performer icon Pat Pitsenbarger (Udo Kier, “The Painted Bird, “Downsizing”) who has given up on life from the confines of his small-town Sandusky, Ohio nursing home. But when Pat gets word that a former client’s dying wish was for him to style her final hairdo, he sets out on an epic journey across Sandusky to confront the ghosts of his past – and collect the beauty supplies necessary for the job. SWAN SONG is a comical and bittersweet journey about rediscovering oneself, and looking gorgeous while doing so.
Todd Stephens brings this beautiful story to life as a writer, producer and director. He is known for making films that have self discovery. Some films he is known for are Edge of Seventeen, Gypsy 83, and Another Gay Movie. He is currently a film professor at School of Visual Arts in NYC.

I had a lovely conversation with Todd Stephens via Zoom to discuss Swan Song. He discussed his return to filmmaking and how close to home this story is.And went further to discuss the who the real “Mister Pat” was and the gay culture decades ago in his hometown. In addition, to what it was like working with the talented Udo Kier.
