Joseph Parsons is bringing ‘Equaliser’ to The Bill Murray in Islington on September 11

After a successful run at the Edinburgh Fringe, comedian Joseph Parsons will perform a special edition of ‘Equaliser’ in north London this month – and LGBTQ+ sports fans are being encouraged to grab discounted tickets.

A Bristol City-supporting, sports-mad guy who also happens to be gay – which often provides him with an alternative view of football, F1, etc – Parsons’ stand-up show proved to be a big hit with audiences and he’s now looking forward to sharing it with more audiences down south.

At Angel Comedy’s The Bill Murray pub in Islington on Sunday, September 11 (5.30pm), the gig will be filmed and Parsons is busy rallying the community to ensure a packed house. Tickets are available from dice.fm with a half-price discount using the code PARSONS50.

In ‘Equaliser’, Parsons talks about the challenges of being a gay sports fan – and it’s as much for those who love sport as those who hate it.

The show takes you on his journey during last summer’s Euro 2020 tournament and how sport has formed who he is today – both good and bad.

At the Fringe, ‘Equaliser’ gained critical acclaim thanks to Parsons’ high-energy performances, his friendly on-stage personality and his musical talent.

In a 4-star review in Culture Fix, the show was described as “a powerhouse set packed with strong punchlines”. This year, Parsons has been shortlisted for the BBC New Comedy Award and has featured on the BBC’s LGBT Sport Podcast, the hugely popular A Gay and A NonGay podcast, and on talkSPORT.

  • “One to watch” – The Times
  • “A sheer treat” – Culture Fix
  • “Immensely likeable performer” – Arts Desk
  • “Obvious musical talent” – Broadway Baby
