The Ark of the Covenant as depicted in Lucasfilms’ Raiders of the Lost Ark

Discovery-owned US cablenet Science Channel has commissioned a series that follows the search for Christian artefact the Ark of the Covenant.

Secrets of the Lost Ark features a team of experts searching for answers about the Ark, a gold-plated wooden chest described in the Bible as containing the two stone tablets of the Ten Commandments. Its exact whereabouts are unknown.

The first episode of the series, which premieres on Science Channel later this month, takes viewers to Jerusalem, believed to be the traditional home of the Ark.

Secrets of the Lost Ark is produced by Like a Shot Entertainment and exec produced by the prodco’s MD Henry Scott and Neil Laird for Science Channel. ITV Studios handles international distribution.
