School board candidates should take positions on issues – NUjournal

To the editor:

It was good to see a number of new candidates interested in running for the District 88 School Board. In order to help the district voters know who to vote for in the election, it behooves The Journal to interview each candidate and publish their findings. Here are some questions to ask, along with some follow-up thoughts. What is your view of transgender males playing on female teams? Scripture is clear that God created male and female (Genesis 1:27). There are studies that show there are over 6,500 biological differences between men and women, every part of the body is different. If allowed, will this be the end of girls’ sports? Should transgender be allowed to use bathrooms and showers of the opposite sex?

Do you agree with “gender-affirming care,” which is sexual mutilation of children where medical puberty blockers are used, along with castration of 16-year-old boys and cutting off the breast of 12-year-old girls? Is this not child abuse? Should parents be informed?

Should sexual indoctrination of children, as young as first grade, be done in the classroom? Shouldn’t teachers be concerned about teaching reading, writing, and ‘rithmatic (math), the traditional subjects, and let the teaching of sex issues for the parents? Parents of Jefferson elementary students, do you know that indoctrination of the gay, lesbian life style is being done by some staff members? They have even gone so far as to suggest that the Eagle mascot be decorated in the pride, gay rainbow colors. Should the superintendent, school administrators, and board of education reprimand such staff members? Other staff members know that what is going on is wrong, but are afraid to say something for fear of losing their job.

Should parents, grandparents, and other local residents who show up at school board meetings be called extremists or domestic terrorists? Shouldn’t parents have a right to know what is being taught to the children?

Is the teaching of critical race theory helping to make our children proud to be an American, or the opposite? Too many people today, including some teachers and board members, are trying to replace the biblical values so vital to our children with social, woke, far-left ideologies. Our children’s education is on the line.
