Robb Richard Kerry
1971-2022
– Robb Richard Kerry passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on July 10th, 2022, after a valiant fight with Pancreatic cancer. Robb was born in Davenport, Iowa on April 14, 1971, to Bonnie Gay Kerry and Keith Wayne Kerry.
Robb grew up in a small Iowa town and attended Blue Grass Elementary, Walcott Junior High School, and Davenport West High School where he excelled in math and science, advanced many creative and lucrative small business ventures, and learned to bleed black and gold for his much-loved Pittsburgh Steelers. He was heavily involved in Scouting and earned the rank of Eagle Scout. Personal relationships are important to Robb, so he developed friendships during his early years that lasted throughout his lifetime. Robb has many talents, and he enjoyed playing football, weight lifting, and the performing arts throughout junior high and high school.
Following graduation, Robb moved to Utah to attend college and fell in love with the many national and state parks and recreation areas in the west. He paused his education to serve a Spanish-speaking mission in Santa Rosa, California for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1990 to 1992 Robb’s mission was a seminal point in his life where he shared his faith in the Savior, developed more life-long friendships, and increased his capacity to love others.
After his mission, Robb continued his education at Weber State University, earning bachelor’s degrees in Business and Spanish as well as a Master’s in Business Administration. Robb excelled academically and in practice and went on to earn a Chartered Financial Analyst Designation. Robb’s education launched him into a successful and rewarding career in business and finance. He began his banking career as a Financial Examiner for the Utah Department of Financial Institutions and went on become the Chief Credit Officer at ADB Bank and Cache Valley Bank before moving to GE Capital as the Models and Quantitative Risk Leader. Robb loved to work and delighted in the creative challenge of finance. His final professional position was at his beloved EnerBank, which he joined in 2014, and where he was responsible for all aspects of consumer and commercial credit risk as well as the bank’s Enterprise Risk Management program. Robb enjoyed many thrilling years at EnerBank and cherished the comradery and friendship with his team members and associates.
Despite his many personal and professional accomplishments, Robb is most proud of his family. Robb met Amy Marian Hedengren, the love of his life, and impressed her with his wit, sense of humor, and intelligence. Amy quickly won Robb’s heart with her brains, beauty, and by being the only woman he’d ever dated who was as good as his mother. Robb and Amy were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple for time and all eternity on March 28th, 2002. Robb always wanted to be a father and this dream came true with the births of his son, Austin James and daughter, Savanna Lynn. Robb spent his happiest times with his family and marvels at how blessed he is to have them. Robb’s faith in Jesus Christ’s atonement and belief in a resurrection with his family sustained him through his darkest times and continues to bring his family hope.
Robb is survived by a large family who love and miss him including his wife Amy and their children, Austin and Savanna; his parents, Keith and Bonnie; brother Sean (Amy); sisters Kelli (Chris) and Jeanne (Richard); as well as 10 nieces, 19 nephews and many other extended family members.
