Richmond Art Center to host Drag Queen Story Hour for families – Richmond Standard
By Kathy Chouteau
The Richmond Art Center (RAC) is celebrating Pride month by hosting a free online “Drag Queen Story Hour with PerSia” on Saturday, June 12 from 10-11 a.m. In an event geared toward kids and their families, PerSia will read A Day in the Life of Marlon Bundo by Jill Twiss, according to the RAC.
“Drag Queen Story Hour captures the imagination and play of the gender fluidity of childhood and gives kids glamorous, positive, and unabashedly queer role models,” said the RAC.
Saturday’s Story Hour hostess, PerSia, is an ongoing performer in Drag Queen Story Hour and also serves as an educator in residence at the Children’s After School Arts (CASA) program in the San Francisco Unified School District, according to the RAC. A onetime weekly performer at the now-closed Esta Noche gay bar in San Francisco, her career has also spanned art curation, stand-up, TV and other activities.
