The closure will be in place between 7pm-6am on 7th November. The work is weather dependent and may need to be postponed to the following night(s) if poor weather is forecast. Diversions will be put in place as well as advanced warnings for motorists.

The ongoing improvement scheme at Queen Square and Gay Street will see all traffic signals replaced and upgraded, a new pedestrian crossing introduced, and improvements made to footways.

The overnight closure is needed to allow an area of Old Kings Street to be resurfaced, the installation of vehicle detection loops for the new traffic signals and to replace existing road markings.

Works began 26th September and are expected to take 8-10 weeks to complete.

The junction has remained open since the start of works under a temporary three-way traffic light system. This will remain in place after the overnight closure is lifted.

Councillor David Wood, cabinet member for Neighbourhood Services said: “This is a busy junction in the centre of Bath which means an overnight closure is necessary to get the work done and avoid congestion. We want to minimise any disruption for people and apologise if this essential work causes any inconvenience.’’
