ED CRUMP: The actual figure from the jobs website LinkedIn is that postings for remote jobs have increased a whopping 457% from this time last year when the pandemic was really ramping up. Working remotely was an experiment forced on us by the pandemic. Many employees who had been pushing for that for years were not upset to see the experiment happen. Employers, however, were skeptical. It didn’t take long to prove that not only could employees maintain their productivity, but in some cases increase it.
Now the increase in remote job postings on LinkedIn are hard evidence that companies are embracing the culture and preparing for a future that includes a lot more remote and hybrid jobs. Molly Galloway, an HR consultant with a nonprofit Catapult, says she’s seeing a similar trend among her clients who are now offering more remote jobs.

ED CRUMP: Galloway cautions however there’s going to be a learning curve as employers try to balance remote and in-person work. But she says the benefits are remote workers is something that most employers can no longer pass up. Why exactly? More on that coming up at 5:30. Ed Crump, ABC11 Eyewitness News.
