More than 70 lawmakers, led by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and Democratic Reps. Jamaal Bowman (N.Y.), Rashida Tlaib (Mich.) and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (N.Y.), are asking President Biden to secure sick days for railway workers through executive action, now that the allowances will probably not be included in a deal between rail companies and unions.
In a letter, which was led by Rep. Donald Payne Jr. (D-N.J.), chair of the House Railroads, Pipelines, and Hazardous Materials Subcommittee, the lawmakers urged Biden to take executive action to guarantee rail workers paid sick days.
