Play for PINK raises over $47000 for research | News, Sports, Jobs – Sanibel-Captiva Islander
It was a picture perfect morning on March 26 at the Dunes Golf and Tennis Club as 68 golfers dressed in pink teed-off in the Dunes Women’s Golf Association’s Play for P.I.N.K. tournament.
Although half the field of previous years due to COVID safety policies, the generosity of the local business community and individuals made the event a success, organizers reported.
The winning teams are: Ed Ciskowski, Brad Byers, Paul Munns and Maynard Luterman in the men’s division; Joni Luterman, Gay Nichols, Maureen O’Brien, and Maureen Saage in the women’s division; and Kevin and Joie Steel with Teresa and Jake Miller in the mixed division.
Players supported the event with purchases of mulligans, raffles and Pay-the-Pro.
Additional funds were raised in a virtual auction that was supported by more than 50 local businesses and individuals. The Matching Fund, started by Barbara Chappell and further funded by two anonymous donors, inspired generous giving by members, families and friends.
One hundred percent of the proceeds from the event will go to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Underwritten by the Estee Lauder Companies, it is the largest private funder of breast cancer research worldwide and the highest rated breast cancer charity in the country.
Following the tourney, players enjoyed lunch prepared by the Dunes. The Play for P.I.N.K. Committee thanked the club, Dunes pro Mike Dopslaff and the staff for their help and support.
