Bowlers of the Week for this week are Shawn Pepperman, who shot an 824 series in the Intercommunity League, and Alicia Edkin, who rolled a 701 series in the Monday Night Classic League. Edkin also posted the best female game of the week with a 278 in her series.

Pepperman’s series bested Randy Drake’s 801 bowled the night before in the Monday Night Classic League. That league saw five perfect games last week, as Cody Daldo, Tim Day, Randy Drake, Jamie Register and Keith Buck each fired a 300.

For the second week in a row Tony Bixby rolled a 300 game in the Intercommunity League, while Buck’s perfecto made it two weeks in a row for him, but in different leagues. Bret York made it a total of seven perfect games for area bowlers last week as he shot a 300 in the Thursday Night Men’s League.

Daldo would have made it eight, but just missed perfect games on consecutive nights as he posted a 299 in the Intercommunity League.

This week we remember 1985 local association Hall of Fame inductee Wanda Page. She started her bowling career with the Jefferson School PTA League in 1960 and continued to bowl until late in 1979, shortly before her death in early 1980. She carried averages above 170 and had a high career game of 260. With numerous 600 series, including her career high of 650, Wanda was a 600 Club member, who regularly competed in the club’s sweepers and tournaments.

Page was active in teaching junior bowlers at Faxon Lanes. In 1964, she teamed with her teenage daughter Debra to win the state championship in the YBA Mother/Daughter Tournament with a score that finished ninth-place nationally.

Hope to see you on the lanes.
