Palm Springs Gay Men’s Chorus Launches School Supplies Drive at Mizell Center Parking Lot in Palm Springs – Palm Springs Life

Palm Springs Gay Men’s Chorus (PSGMC) to Launch School Supplies Drive.

What: “Chorus Cares” is a PSGMC program providing Outreach Initiatives throughout the Coachella Valley. In an effort to help school age kids, “Chorus Cares” will be doing a School Supplies Drive for two elementary schools to gather the supplies needed for the 2022-2023 school year.

When: School Supplies Launch, Friday, July 8.

Photo OP: Drop off supplies in-person Saturday, July 23 or Saturday, July 30 both days from 8:00-11:00AM at the Mizell Center Parking Lot, 480 South Sunrise Way, Look for the PSGMC tent, or financially support PSGMC (see below).

Photo OP: Drop off to schools will take place Monday, August 8 between
10:00-11:00AM to Vista del Monte Elementary school in Palm Springs and Wednesday, August 10 to Theodore Roosevelt Elementary School in Indio.

Items Needed: pencils, glue sticks (NOT hot glue sticks), plastic pencil/pen holders, child scissors, spiral notebooks (large rule), paper folders, crayons
(8-24 per pack), loose-leaf notebook paper (large rule).

Where & How:
1) Touch less drop-off at the Mizell Senior Center Parking Lot, 480 South Sunrise Way at the corner of Ramon Road, Palm Springs. Put supplies in your trunk and volunteers will take them out at the drop-off point or just hand them to volunteers as you pull up.

2) Donations of cash/check/credit card will also be accepted, put cash or checks in an envelope labeled “Chorus Cares” and drop off at Mizell Senior Center at the PSGMC tent. PSGMC will also have its “Dip Jar” onsite, to enable everyone to donate in increments of $20. Pay by credit card at www.PSGMC.com by clicking the “Chorus Cares” link under the heading “Give/Donate.” School supplies will be bought with the donations received.

We invite you to join us in our efforts to collect much needed school supplies for two local elementary schools. The generous support of our community never ceases to amaze me,” said Victor Culatta, PSGMC Community Outreach Committee Chair.

Now in its 24th Season, PSGMC has given back to its community through the George Zander Memorial Anti-bullying Fund giving grants to Gay/Straight Alliances in the Coachella Valley School Districts, food and baby supply drives for Martha’s Village and Kitchen, PPE mask making for Eisenhower Health, raising over $12,000 in 2021 for the Desert AIDS Walk and much more.
