Paige Thorne backtracks on ‘fake’ Love Island couple claims: ‘I was in a really low place’ – OK! magazine
Paige Thorne has backtracked on her claims last year that a remaining Love Island couple were faking it.
She made an appearance on the podcast Saving Grace in October and said there was one couple that weren’t actually together when was asked by presenter GK Barry “who are the fakest couple to come out of Love Island?”
The Welsh paramedic, 24, said at the time: “All I’m going to say on this is… There are how many couples left, three? Really there’s only two. But that’s a secret I’ll never tell.”
But now Paige, who split from Adam Collard just months after the show ended, has backtracked on that comment, revealing she was in a “low place” when she said it.
“When I did that podcast, I was in a really low place and I was feeling hella b****y, and I just took it out on everything around me, which showed,” Paige revealed to Her.
She added: “It wasn’t the best side of my character but I had heard some news that it’s not all as it seems and I was in my little b****y mood.”
After Paige made her initial comment, fellow Love Islander Luca Bish, who was still together with Gemma Owen at the time, said he “didn’t really care” about her claims.
He later told Metro: “Listen – people, when you come out the villa, I think a lot of them take podcast after podcast, show after show, or radio after radio, and the best thing they can do is talk or make a story.
“I dunno what Paige was doing or who it was about, but that’s up to her and say what you want to say.”
As Gemma and Luca later went on to break up, Paige showed her support to Gemma as she wanted to know she was okay.
She told OK! at the time: “I texted Gem to make sure she was all good, just showing her my support and letting her know that I was always there if she ever needed to chat.
“Obviously, coming out of the relationship in the public eye is difficult enough anyway, so she knows I’m there if she needs me and she’ll reach out.”
Since Paige appeared on the podcast, she has returned to her previous job as a paramedic.
She said: “I always planned to return to my job after Love Island. I’m on what’s called a bank contract, so I can choose my shifts but I dedicate one day every week to paramedic related work.
“My colleagues have been so supportive of my return to work. The firefighters at my base even recorded episodes of the show to watch together and were keen to analyse my love life in the staff room!”
