Oregon school board drops ban on gay pride and other symbols – Montana Right Now
SALEM, Ore. (AP) — A school district in Oregon has rescinded its policy banning educators from displaying Black Lives Matter and gay pride symbols following a court settlement with a teachers union. The board passed a rule in 2021 banning school staff from displaying the symbols, and then expanded the ban to all political or controversial signs. The local teachers’ union said the settlement includes the school board reimbursing teachers’ unions for part of their legal fees. The board voted on Jan. 10 to rescind the controversial policy.
