Operto Guest Technologies appoints Rick Gay as VP Revenue – Short Term Rentalz

Vancouver: Property automation system Operto Guest Technologies, which provides solutions for the hotel and short-term rental industries, has announced it has appointed Rick Gay as its new VP Revenue.

Gay will oversee Operto’s global sales and client success teams, taking the reigns of the rapidly growing SaaS-based operating system for property managers and guests, supporting the full spectrum of the accommodation sector. Through its commitment to hardware integration and software innovation, Operto seeks to seamlessly connect guests, owners and service teams together, to simplify and enhance their overall experience.

Gay is a seasoned SaaS sales leader, with a background rooted in technology across a wide variety of industry verticals and multiple continents.

A former international hockey player [South Africa and Wales], he brings to Operto a proven track record of building, scaling and managing globally dispersed sales and client success teams that deliver cutting-edge SaaS solutions. He will be based out of Operto’s Vancouver head office, and will support its continued growth across North America, Europe, Australia / New Zealand, Asia and Africa.

Gay said of his new role: “The global accommodation market is overwhelmed by the myriad of technology and devices: keyless access, noise and occupancy monitoring, smart thermostats, connected TVs and digital assistants.

“Operto’s industry-leading software is game-changing for the industry as it opens up the ability to bring these devices to life for short-term rental and hotel operators. Operto’s software allows our customers to leverage innovation and technology advancements that drive significant value for property owners, managers, service providers and guests, whilst managing it from one integrated platform.

“Operto has built, and continues to build best-in-class hardware integrations and software solutions with our industry partners. Our solutions solve real problems for real people, which is the bedrock of any successful SaaS company.

“It is a tremendously exciting time to be joining the company, directly off the back of record 2020 growth. Rapidly scaling Operto’s business and team in 2021 and beyond is an incredibly exciting challenge for me and I’m looking forward to rolling up my sleeves, and jumping right in,” he added.

Operto CEO Steve Davis said: “Bringing a SaaS sales leader like Rick into the Operto family, marks a significant inflexion point for our company’s growth. His tremendous depth of sales and revenue management experience, combined with his proven ability to build and scale sales teams, will have a major bottom line impact on our business.

“We have a robust pipeline of new product innovation coming to the market in 2021, and I look forward to Rick and his teams helping us successfully launch them into the market,” he added.
