OnePlus gets ahead of new Samsung Galaxy S23 with the launch of first flagship smartphone of 2023 – Irish Mirror

OnePlus has confirmed that the first flagship smartphone arrival of 2023 will be the OnePlus 11 5G.

The global launch event is called Cloud 11 and takes place in New Delhi, India, on February 7.

But ahead of that, the company has released lots of information on the Weibo website about the Chinese launch on January 4.

There’s no word yet as to when exactly the phone will go on sale in Ireland and Europe, but we do know that the firm will also be announcing its latest OnePlus Buds Pro 2 true wireless earphones.

And the company has announced specs such as the processor, RAM and storage, showing the shiny new device will be right up there with other high-end smartphones.

OnePlus 11 will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, a chip that promises not just the usual speed improvements, but upgrades to AI, camera features, 5G speeds and graphics.

You’ll get 12 or 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM, along with up 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage.

The new device should have the firm’s Color 13 OS based on Android 13 right out of the box.

And there are black and green colourways.

Fan favourites

And we know that OnePlus 11 5G is fitted with two user-favourite features – the iconic Alert Slider and the sophisticated Hasselblad photography integration.

Both fan faves were missing from the company’s last device of 2022 – OnePlus 11T, which included a 150w charger instead, the fastest charging you can get on a smartphone in Ireland currently.

The company has promised that the latest iteration of the Hasselblad camera tech will usher in “a new true-to-life quality to smartphone photography.”

Full camera specs have yet to be released, but in the images released you can see three cameras on a circular module with Hasselblad branding front and centre.

While the return of the alert slider has been universally praised. It’s one of the most unique OnePlus features, making it it easy to shift from silent to vibrate to ring.

No other Android flagship has an alert slider, but Apple’s iPhone employs a similar switch.

“We’re thrilled to be revealing these exciting new products that bring a levelled up fast and smooth experience to the market,” Pete Lau, OnePlus Senior Vice President and Chief of Product at OPPO and OnePlus, said.

“The OnePlus 11 5G, the OnePlus Buds Pro 2, and other products are driven by our community co-creation spirit and will be equipped with the most advanced technology to provide a refined experience to our users.”

Now that OnePlus has confirmed its launch, and with Samsung expected to announce a release date for the Galaxy S23 soon, it looks like an exciting start to 2023 for Android fans.

Xiaomi is also getting ready to launch its new Xiaomi 13 Series.
