‘Football is gay. Football is queer. Football is accepting.’

That’s the message from one of the biggest sports organisations on the planet – the NFL.

The National Football League has released a powerful video to show its support for the LGBTQ+ community.

There’s no flashy highlights, funky graphics or even big-name stars who feature in the clip, instead we’re left with a raw yet touching message that America’s No.1 sport is inclusive.

In the short video, which only lasts 30 seconds, the NFL states that football is: gay, lesbian, beautiful, queer, life, exciting, culture, transgender, heart, power, tough, bisexual, strong, freedom, America, accepting, everything.

It then finishes of perfectly with: “Football is for everyone.”

But just as the clip wraps up, it gives viewers an alarming stat.

“LGBTQ+ youth with at least one accepting adult have 40% lower risk of attempting suicide.”
