Netflix Cancels Uncoupled, Neil Patrick Harris’ Gay Comedy Series – Pride.com

Sorry Uncoupled fans. Streaming giant Netflix has canceled the gay series starring Neil Patrick Harris.

The show premiered last July from producers Jeffrey Richman and Darren Star, the latter is who is responsible for the massively popular series Emily In Paris. Harris played Michael, a middle-aged man who “thought his life was perfect until his partner blindsides him by walking out the door after 17 years,” the official description reads. “Overnight, Michael has to confront two nightmares — losing what he thought was his soulmate and suddenly finding himself a single gay man in his mid-forties in New York City.”

Tuc Watkins played Michael’s ex, Colin. The show also stars Tisha Campbell, Brooks Ashmanskas, Emerson Brooks, and Marcia Gay Harden.

According to Variety, the first eight episodes of season one received “a 73% critical approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes with the series also managing a 75% audience approval rating. It failed to make a significant viewership impact, however, with the series appearing in the Netflix Top 10 chart for just one week after its debut in the number six spot.”

Unfortunately for fans of the show, episode eight ended on a massive cliffhanger. Just as Michael was finally beginning to move on, Colin showed up on his doorstep – or in their condo, to be more exact. “I think I made a mistake,” Colin confesses to a shocked Michael.

Will we ever know what became of the couple? If the series doesn’t get picked up by another network, it doesn’t look too likely.

Season 1 is still available to stream on Netflix now.

Will there be Uncoupled Season 2?

Nope. After just one season, Netflix announced they will not be renewing Uncoupled for a second.

How many episodes is Uncoupled?

Eight episodes are currently available to watch on Netflix.

Is Uncoupled worth watching?

In our opinion, yes! In the vein of Sex in the City and Emily in Paris, it’s a funny and heartwarming taste of gay life after love.
