My big, gay Whopper – Washington Examiner

Fast-food restaurant Burger King decided to show its ‘pride’ at establishments in Austria by creating a special burger for the month of June. Dubbed the “Pride Whopper,” it features the usual meat, lettuce, onions, and tomatoes of the normal Whopper but comes with two “equal buns” — either two top buns or two bottom buns. No truth to the rumor that this promotional burger was “born this way.”

The culinary creation is the restaurant chain’s way of supporting LGBTQ equality during the month that celebrates homosexual relationships. Upon hearing about this foolishness, I decided to go to a local Burger King and ordered the new big, gay Whopper.

“Time to be proud,” an Instagram post on the Burger King Austria account read. What’s next, a Whopper that wants to identify as a milkshake?

Thankfully, or sadly, depending on one’s perspective, the gimmick appears to be available only in Burger Kings in Austria. But, despite this limited release, it doesn’t make the reality of the big, gay whopper any less ridiculous.

Fortunately, due to the excellent customer service of an employee at my local Burger King, I was able to get a makeshift version of the big, gay whopper. The only stipulation was that I had to order two of them so they could take a top bun from one and put it on the other and do the same with the bottom bun. The impromptu creation is pictured above.

“We are setting an example for individuality and freedom and stand for a respectful interaction with each other,” Burger King Austria’s original Instagram post read. “Equal rights. Empathy. Understanding. No matter where you come from, no matter who you love, no matter what you look like or what you believe in: Time to be proud.”

It’s a sad commentary on the world’s sociopolitical climate that companies are resorting to fast food to try to make a misguided point about celebrating homosexual relationships. I am sure there will be plenty of people who enjoy this sort of thing — even if it seems more suited for a comedy skit than a fast-food restaurant.

Some may say it was absurd to purchase two burgers just for a photo. Yet, it is no less ludicrous than the rainbow-washing that Burger King and many other corporations partake in each June to celebrate the fact that some humans are sexually attracted to members of the same sex. At least with my stunt, I was able to feed one of Philadelphia’s many homeless people. Every other corporate gimmick is used as an attempt to increase profits while appearing sympathetic to the rainbow flag.

Creating “gay food” to honor the LGBTQ community is indicative of the brainwashing power of the LGBTQ movement worldwide. We should focus on ensuring LGBTQ people are not discriminated against or physically abused, not creating promotional fast-food menu options. Anything else is just outlandish political propaganda and pandering to show a company’s “wokeness.”
