L.A. trio MUNA has taken the internet by storm with the release of their newest single/music video for “Silk Chiffon,” a shimmering, first-gay-kiss pop anthem that sees the band join forces with Phoebe Bridgers. Between swooning acoustic and gilded guitar riffs Katie Gavin lets loose her crystalline trill, singing about the kind of giddy and intoxicating feeling that electrifies you when the source of that love is near you. Filled with the lush explosions of glittery hooks, the new song also marks the band’s first song on Bridger’s label Saddest Factory Records.

The music video, directed by Ally Pankiw, captures the song’s kinetic pop effervescence with vibrant pink and blue outfits — visual separations for the boys and girls at summer camp. The visuals allude to the film But I’m a Cheerleader directed by Jamie Babbit, which satirized gay conversion therapy. “Silk Chiffon” continues to undermine those ideas with Bridgers — in character as the camp counselor — singing her own verse.

Muna goes is currently on tour and will be playing the Staples Center in Los Angeles on February 2, 2022, in support of Kacey Musgraves with supporting act King Princess.
