Mike came out to his family & Gay Twitter is helping him celebrate – LGBTQ Nation
Mike has officially come out to his family. While it’s an official rite of passage for LGBTQ+ people, it can also be incredibly stressful.
So when he posted his news on Twitter, over 23,000 people (so far) helped him celebrate. And whether it was encouragement, advice, or their own coming out stories, users reacted with love.
In a year full of bad news – including Twitter’s general meltdown under billionaire Elon Musk’s ownership – the joyous response to Mike’s big moment is precisely the holiday pick-me-up everyone needs.
came out to my fam this weekend 🙂

I hope it went well. If anyone has a problem, remember it’s their problem and not yours. You also get to choose your family as an adult, and there are millions of us who accept you as you are.

It really is hard to explain just how liberating it is to finally stop hiding to people who have never had to hide who they are and always have been from their loved ones!

Thank you for living your truth, Mike. It’s not easy, but know the entirety of the LGBTQIA+ Community is behind you, and here for you, if you ever need anything.

Our coming out stories define as gay me for the rest of our lives! Hope it went well. Funniest response was “oh tell me something I didn’t already know! Pass the salt!” We were having dinner! 😜😂

Can you offer any advice to those who want to come out but scared to?

Brave, courageous even. It may not seem so now, but it will make your life easier in the future. Always better to be true to yourself. How did it go?

For what it’s worth, I’m proud of you. That is something most people don’t have to do in a family. It takes strength and courage to be who you are openly and honestly in front of those that we tend to hold most dear. Congratulations. (Regardless of how it went.)
