Man hurls anti-gay slur at woman, punches her in eye inside Manhattan subway station – 1010 WINS

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — The NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force was investigating after a man who yelled an anti-gay slur and threatened to stab a woman inside a Manhattan subway station over the weekend, punched her in the face, authorities confirmed.

Officials said the attack happened at about 7:45 p.m. on Saturday when a 24-year-old woman was outside of the turnstile at the Canal Street N,Q,R,W subway station in Chinatown.

According to police, the attacker, who is described as a man in his 50s, yelled “You don’t belong here!” and “You d***s need to get out of here!” at the woman.

The attacker punched the victim and when the victim attempted to record him, he punched her again in the right eye with a closed fist, cops said.

The man then brandishing a sharp object and threatened the woman, saying “I’ll stab you,” the NYPD said.

An investigation is ongoing.
