Lorraine Kelly dissolves into giggles as Dannii Minogue labels her a ‘gay icon’ – msnNOW
Lorraine Kelly’s day was absolutely made when Dannii Minogue labeled her a ‘gay icon’.
The ITV chat show host wouldn’t usually be a name you think of alongside the likes of Madonna, Cher, and Lady Gaga, but she seemed so utterly delighted you have to give it to her.
Lorraine was interviewing pop legend and actress Dannii about hosting new dating show I Kissed A Boy, which is essentially an all-male Love Island.
‘It’s the first gay dating show!’ an excited Dannii said. ‘Remind me why we’ve waited so long for this?’
‘I feel like it’s been years since we’ve been watching so many dating shows, whether it’s on an island, whether it’s in a house… and it’s just time for something for the LGBTQ community.’
Lorraine agreed, saying it ‘should have been on years ago,’ and acknowledged that Dannii has been ‘a great ally, you always have been.’
With Dannii then jumping in with: ‘And you. You’re a gay icon’ – all the while waving her arms like she was worshipping the chat show host.
‘Oh come on,’ Lorraine said sheepishly, before giggling like a schoolgirl.
Dannii then added: ‘The boys are going to lose themselves hearing you talking about this show!’
The new eight-part dating series will follow 10 single men as they jett off to Europe to find Mr Right, with each of the contestants coupled up before facing a series of challenges.
Rather than be eased into the process, they’ll have to test their physical connection straight away as they lock lips with their strongest matches before they’ve even had a chance to get to know each other.
Some of the men might think they’ve found the one, before their attention strays to someone else – one of the most popular aspects of Love Island and which is almost guaranteed to be a hit with viewers in the new show.
Dannii previously spoke about her excitement for the new show, saying as it was announced: ‘There are millions of people in the UK looking for love. And I believe love is for everyone,’ the singer and TV personality said.
‘So I am so thrilled for a gay dating show to be entering the sea of other dating shows that have existed on TV for years.’
Stating that she’s been ‘a staunch ally of the LGBTQ+ community for as long as I can remember’, Dannii said that her close friends would describe her dream job as ‘Cupid’.

‘So this gives me that flutter-of-love feeling inside too, just to be a part of it,’ she added. ‘Let’s hope there is love, sealed with a kiss!’
Lorraine airs weekdays from 9am on ITV.
