A Long Island library board voted to ban displays of children’s books that have LGBT characters in them, the latest crackdown on books about underrepresented communities in the U.S.
The board of trustees of the Smithtown Library in New York voted 4-2 on Tuesday to remove the displays from its children’s rooms in the four locations it manages, according to a posting on the library’s webpage. Smithtown is about 50 miles east of Manhattan.
