Letters: Patients should know vaccine status of health care providers – South Bend Tribune

Medical providers should let their patients know if any of their staff is unvaccinated. As a consumer of medical services, the choice to be treated by an unvaccinated person should be mine. This applies to so-called religious exemptions as well. I hope that we will soon have access to this critical information via the provider websites.

We’re better off now

In the Sept. 19 Tribune, Marc Thiessen stated, among other things, that “the idea that Trump would start a nuclear war is ludicrous…”

While it’s not likely that Thiessen would know that his column would appear on the same pages as that of Leonard Pitts, he would do well to read Pitts’ article. If anyone thinks that Trump would not start a nuclear war, it suggests that they are either smoking some strong stuff or their mental deficiency is clouding their judgment. The unhinged previous president’s bizarre behavior proves that nothing is beyond him. The odds of a nuclear war have decreased since Trump is out of the picture and we are the better off for it.

Parents as equals

In the past, women have been expected to be the main caretaker of the children in a family, but in modern times men are more involved in parenting. There are also single fathers and gay men with families. With these modern times, baby changing stations should be put into more men’s public bathrooms. Typically, in public bathrooms, the women’s room is the only one with a changing station. This makes it difficult for men to take care of the children and is still expressing the stereotype that women should be the ones to take care of the children when, instead, parents should be seen as equals.

The easy solution is to start requiring changing tables in men’s bathrooms along with changing tables in women’s bathrooms. This will continue the fight for equality between men and women and will benefit all different kinds of families in many communities, including ours.
