Kevin Conroy was first identified as gay in 2016

The New York Times revealed in a 2016 interview that Kevin was gay.

In the late 1980s, he played the role of a TV producer secretly living with AIDS. He told the publication at the time: “I went to so many funerals that I felt such a sense of obligation to do it right. Every night I would just wail, feeling all the pain. I couldn’t feel it. It was a scream of, ‘Look what’s happening to us! Help!’”

Although it was mentioned by the outlet that he was over six years ago, most of his fans only came to know about his sexuality when he shared his story for DC comics for Pride Month.

In the story, the artist details how his personal story contributed to his role as Batman.
