Kathryn L. Harer, of Loyalsock Township, passed away on Sept. 21, 2021, at the age of 92 in Valley View Nursing Center. She was born on April 20,1929, in Williamsport, daughter of Oris C. and Julia Anna (Feeney) McCloskey and was raised by her beloved grandmother, Sadie G. McCloskey.

She was happily a homemaker and she supported her husband of 31 years, James, in his business ventures until his passing in 1981. She was the mother of five rambunctious children for whom she made all holidays and birthdays so special. She was a loving, caring woman who will be greatly missed.

Kathryn will be remembered for her beautiful gardens and her love of classic films. Other interests included reading biographies, birdwatching and listening to music. Kathryn was an avid puzzler.

She was preceded in death by her parents; grandmother; son, William Harer; and husband, James F. Harer. She was the last remaining sibling in her family. Preceding her were Eleanor Waldman, Anna Jean Parks, Oris McCloskey Jr, Joseph McCloskey, Karl McCloskey, Paul McCloskey and June Morehart.

She is survived by sons John Harer and James (Heather) Harer; daughters Marilyn Harer and Patti (Kelly) Kane; daughter-in-law Jean Harer; a special niece Judy Powers; 11 grandchildren: Kelly Harer, Suzanne Harer, Audrey Harer, Luke Harer, Cam Harer, Molly Harer, Courtney Gay, Christopher Kane, Megan Hazel, Alexis Kane, Ryan Kane; and eight great-grandchildren.

A viewing for family and friends will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. at Spitler Funeral Home on Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2021, with the service beginning at 2. Burial will immediately follow in Montoursville Cemetery.

Due to health concerns, wearing masks and social distancing will be appreciated.
