Jimmies football ends season with 23-20 win at Mount Marty – The Jamestown Sun

YANKTON, SD — The University of Jamestown scored a late touchdown to clinch their fourth win of the season. The Jimmies took down Mount Marty University 23-20 on Saturday, Nov. 12, at Mount Marty’s Williams Field.

The Jimmies (4-7, 3-7) opening the scoring 11:54 to go in the first quarter when quarterback Cade Torgerson aired it out to Steve Justice for an 18-yard score to make it 6-0. After the Lancers took a 7-6 lead, the Jimmies scored early in the second quarter to make it 13-7. With 34 seconds to go in the first half, the Jimmies’ Aanon Peterson nailed a field goal to push the Jimmies lead out to 16-7.

The third quarter was all Lancers (3-8, 2-8) as they scored 13 points to head into the fourth quarter with a 20-16 lead.

The Jimmies were able to overcome self inflicted wounds in the fourth quarter as on their second possession of the quarter, Torgerson threw an interception and on the team’s touchdown drive, Micah Madyun fumbled it but the Jimmies’ Javon Bowie-Monteiro was able to jump on it. Two plays later, the Jimmies’ Chris Sayler took the ball 38-yards to the house to push the Jimmies in front 23-20.

Both teams struggled on third down as they went a combined seven-for-27. However, teh Jimmies had the advantage on fourth down going two-for-three. The Jimmies struggles with turnovers in this one as they had hree fumbles, but only lost one and Torgerson threw two interceptions for a combined 63 yards.
