Jazz Moving Training Camp To Las Vegas – KSL Sports

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah Jazz are moving training camp to Las Vegas ahead of the 2021-22 NBA season. The team made the announcement Monday, one week before the team is set to host media day in Salt Lake City.

The move will mark the first time since the 2008-09 season when the Jazz practiced in Boise, Idaho that training camp will be held outside of Utah.

The team will practice at the Wynn Las Vegas on September 28-30 before returning to Salt Lake City on October 1.

After returning to Utah, the Jazz will prepare to fly to Texas to begin the preseason where they will face the San Antonio Spurs on Monday, October 4, and the Houston Rockets on Wednesday, October 6.

From Texas, the Jazz will return to Salt Lake City where they will host the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday, October 11, then wrap up their preseason against the defending champion Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday, October 13.

The Jazz open the regular season one week later on October 20 at home against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The team currently has 17 players on their training camp roster after waiving for Jarrell Brantley last week. Preseason rosters can carry as many as 20 players but must be trimmed down to at least 13, and no more than 15 players on guaranteed contracts by opening night.

Teams also have two two-way rosters spots for players that will split time between the NBA and the G League. Currently, second-year guard Trent Forrest occupies one of the Jazz’s two two-way spots.

The training camp in Las Vegas will mark the first time newcomers Rudy Gay, Hassan Whiteside, Eric Paschall, and rookie Jared Butler will wear a Jazz uniform.

The team has also signed rookies Derrick Alston Jr. and MaCio Teague to the training camp roster.
