(ONEONTA) Janella Gay Prince, 83, of Oneonta gained her angel wings Friday, April 2, 2021.

The funeral was Monday, April 5, at 2 p.m. at Oneonta Church of Christ with Bro. Bob Swain officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Prince was born Feb. 21, 1938, to the late Dewey Gay and Mary Eris Heard Gay. Janella was a member of Oneonta Church of Christ and Oneonta Gardening Club. She was a Brownie leader and very active in the Ladies’ Ministry at church. She loved to work in her garden, to work with her flowers, singing, entertaining friends at parties and being around people and making them smile. She was a room mother at various school activities, such as clubs, band and cheering.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, James Prince; daughters, Mary Ann Harris (Fred) and Pam Stratton (Kenny); grandchildren, Brent Stratton, Macy Stratton, Shelby Stratton, Annette Campbell (Scott), Ariana Hann (Brian), Nikki Lowry (Timmy) and Shelby Alexander; great-grandchildren, Jada Hann and Declan and Lily Lowry; and beloved little sister, Mary Nell Edmondson. She is preceded in death by her son, Alan; father, Dewey Gay; mother, Eris Gay Sikes (Charlie); and brothers, Paul, Billy, Ray and Jerry Gay.
