Is Robin from Stranger Things gay? – Winter is Coming
Stranger Things is exploding with subplots, including a potential romance between Robin (Maya Hawke) and Vickie (Amybeth McNulty). Maya has been around since season 3, but Vickie is a brand new character introduced in this most recent suite of episodes.
Maya revealed she was gay to Steve in a terrific scene from the third season. The two were on the run from Soviet soldiers who had made a secret military base beneath the Starcourt Mall (standard stuff when you live in Hawkins), which turned out to be the perfect time for a really well-written and acted coming out scene:

Since then, Steve and Robin have become best buds, working at the video store together and teasing each other about their love lives. Steve is still kind of floundering, but Robin has her eye on someone…
Vickie Stranger Things
We don’t spend a lot of time with Vickie in Stranger Things season 4, but we know that she plays int he school band with Robin. Robin has a crush on Vickie, but gets tongue-tied around her. Robin isn’t even sure if Vickie is gay, but Steve guesses she is because she returned a copy of Fast Times at Ridgemont High time-stamped at the pool scene. Google it if you want to know what that implies.
Vickie is played by Amybeth McNulty, who was the star of the Netflix show Anne With An E, an adaptation of Lucy Maud Montgomery’s 1908 book Anne of Green Gables. That show had a passionate following, and it’s great that the fans are at least getting to see McNulty in a Netflix show again.
Robin, Steve, and the rest of the Hawkins characters have their hands rather tied at the moment, what with the police on their tail and the murderous Vecna hunting them from beyond the veil of reality. It’s hard to imagine there’ll be time for a subplot involving Robin and Vickie, but we’ll find out when Stranger Things returns for the final two episodes of season 4 on July 1.
