‘How Bout This Jazz’ podcast: Can the Utah Jazz play ‘small ball’ when needed? – Salt Lake Tribune
After training camp in Las Vegas, the preseason is here for the Utah Jazz, tipping off with a matchup with the San Antonio Spurs on Monday night.
The season is just around the corner.
In the latest episode of the Tribune’s “How Bout This Jazz” podcast, host/moderator Xoel Cardenas and Jazz beat reporters Andy Larsen and Eric Walden talk Jazz training camp in Las Vegas, as well as how the injury to free agent signing Rudy Gay changes coach Quin Snyder’s plans (or not) for the start of the season.
The HBTJ trio also gives us some thoughts on if the Jazz can play small ball when needed (i.e. the playoffs) and if the team has a plan B or C lineup to defend against small-ball playing teams like the Los Angeles Clippers, who defeated Utah in six games in the playoffs last season.
The guys also discuss Kyrie Irving possibly not playing this season due to him not getting the COVID-19 vaccine, and the stalemate between Philadelphia and Ben Simmons.
Plus, Andy and Eric sing a bit of Bill Withers’ 1977 classic “Lovely Day.” That’s worth listening to the episode in itself!
