Georgia Teen Charged In Assault On Student Wearing Gay Pride Flag – iHeartRadio
A Georgia teenager is facing juvenile charges after he attacked a fellow student who was draped in a gay pride flag in a school cafeteria, as per authorities.
Footage of the incident was filmed at Lowndes High School in Valdosta, Georgia last week, depicting a male student charging across the cafeteria and pulling on his peer’s flag as he fell to the floor. Another student attempted to interject and push away the attacker, who tossed the flag into the garbage. Lowndes County Sheriff Ashley Paulk told The Valdosta Daily Times that the student has been charged with disorderly conduct, simple battery and disruption of a public facility.
“We take the well-being and safety of our students seriously,” Lowndes High School Assistant Principal Rodney Green said in a statement, revealing that the victim was not physically injured. “Our staff works hard to provide a safe environment where all of our students feel valued.”
