Gay sauna to remain open for Queen’s funeral as live broadcast shown on screens – My London

A gay sauna in London has announced that it will remain open on the day of the Queen’s state funeral, September 19, as guests will be encouraged to raise a toast to Her Majesty as the funeral is broadcast live on their screens. Pleasuredome Spa, near Waterloo Station, is known as the ‘only gay venue in the UK that never closes’ and they are sticking to their word.

A million mourners are expected to descend on London tomorrow for the state funeral and business across the capital will be locking up shop after King Charles III made the day a national bank holiday, though the choice to close is purely up to each business individually.

A statement from Pleasuredome stated: “The staff and management of Pleasuredrome Spa join together in expressing their sense of deep sadness and loss at the passing of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. In accordance with Government guidance and advice, Pleasuredrome Spa will remain open on Monday, September 19th.

“As a mark of respect to her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, no music will be played within the spa and no films will be shown. The cinema and the main screen will show live events around Her Late Majesty’s funeral throughout the day.

“Guests at the venue are invited to join us in a toast to His Majesty King Charles III. Drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, including champagne, will be provided at the cost of the management of Pleasuredrome Spa for the royal toast.”

Pleasuredome have long been a popular venue in the Capital and they boast about always being open as they even stay open on Christmas Day.

There will no doubt be people attending the gay sauna to raise a toast to Her Late Majesty though some have been left wondering in the late Queen even knew London had gay saunas.
