Fortune Feimster Talks Netflix Comedy Special ‘Good Fortune’ And Her Gay Journey: “This Is Who I Am” – GLAAD
In 2020, comedian and actor Fortune Feimster released her comedy special Sweet & Salty on Netflix where she shared her childhood stories about being a Girl Scout and a disquailifed swim meet champ. Now, Feimster picks up where she left off with her new Netflix comedy special Good Fortune which debuts on October 25.
Directed by Manny Rodriguez and filmed in the Chicago Shakespeare Theater, Feimster charms the audience and, like the audience suggests, spotlights her good fortune. Specifically, she talks:
“This is who I am. I’m more in touch with me as a person,” Feimster, who also serves as executive producer of the special, told GLAAD’s Anthony Allen Ramos. “This is like, Okay, I’ve been gay for a while. I know myself. I fell in love. I’m getting engaged. I’ve now gotten married. Here’s us figuring life out together.”
Feimster and Jacquelyn Smith married in 2020 and the special explores this adult part of her life and what she gets wrong, what she gets right and the humor along the way.
“It’s been fun to share this part of myself and how I’m a little different than what you might think from my appearance,” said Feimster.
“Good Fortune” premieres 10/25 on Netflix.
