Ford Is Bringing A New “Very Gay” Raptor At Goodwood – CarScoops

Ford is going to debut a new version of the “Very Gay” Raptor, a one-off special based on the second-generation Ranger Raptor. The rainbow-colored model will appear at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, in a quest to support the LGBTQ+ community, alongside the dynamic debut of the new Ranger Raptor in Europe.

The original “Very Gay” Raptor (VGR) was created in 2021 as Ford’s response to a negative comment on social media. Just like its predecessor, the new VGR sports a multicolored livery with a glitter-rich rear end complementing Raptor’s rugged styling. Under the bonnet lies the stock twin-turbo 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 which produces 284 hp (212 kW / 288 PS) and 491 Nm (362 lb-ft) of torque, in its European specification. The Australia-spec Ranger Raptor is significantly more powerful, with as much as 392 hp (292 kW / 397 PS) and 583 Nm (430 ft-lb) of torque.

Ford’s latest publicity stunt is a follow-up to the “Tough Talks” video series hosted by former Welsh Rugby Player, Gareth Thomas, who is the first openly gay rugby union player. In the videos, he talks with guests about fighting homophobia within the automotive world and the need of redefining the essence of tough.

Live sessions of the “Tough Talks” will be hosted at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, with Gareth Thomas talking to guests from the trunk bed of the “Very Gay Raptor”. Both the colorful model and a standard Ford Ranger Raptor will tackle Goodwood’s off-road track, showcasing their Baja-ready credentials.
